Why Volunteer?
Since our inception, the West Tech Alumni Association has been run solely by volunteers. In the past, there were plenty of volunteers from the classes going back to the 1940s. But, over the past several years, we have experienced the folks from the ’40s, ’50s, and through the mid-’60s classes who have served as trustees, officers, committee chairpersons and committee members slowing down and/or stopping their volunteer time with the Alumni Association.
For those who served in various capacities with the WTAA, we are eternally grateful.
Since West Tech High School was closed in 1995, we have always feared that the availability of volunteers to step up to keep the WTAA running would dwindle over time. With this in mind, we ponder how many more years the Association can live on. We have members from the classes of the ’60s and ’70s who are committing their time to keep things going, but we have found that there are only a few alumni from the early classes of the ’80s who are active and even fewer from the ’90s. We have reached out to these classes, but are not hearing back.
The WTAA is reaching out to its alumni members inviting them to consider volunteering some time to the organization. Presented here are areas where the WTAA needs volunteers, and we hope you will consider getting involved.
Thank you for your consideration!
